Job Description
The Global Markets & Technologies (GM&T) World Business Unit delivers technological solutions (molecules, equipment and services) to support the new markets of energy transition, maritime logistics and scientific exploration, in order to accelerate Air Liquide sustainable growth. To support the energy transition, GM&T brings environmentally friendly solutions to the clean energy market with hydrogen energy and Bio-Natural Gas for vehicles, refrigerated transport using nitrogen, but also the treatment and injection of Biogas into the energy grid as a local power source.

The primary role of the Senior Process Engineer will be to improve the plant asset utilization by improving the performance and reliability of process equipment and supporting infrastructure. This role must collaborate with ATS (Advanced Technical Solutions) Engineers, Operations, as well as Reliability & Maintenance. This role offers ample opportunity for personal development, both technical and leadership.

The Senior Process Engineer works as part of a multi-disciplinary team that has responsibility for Process Safety Management, day-to-day plant operations, new capital installation, new product commercialization and continuous improvement in our Membrane manufacturing site. Will serve as the technical guardian of one or more manufacturing process areas.

Salary Information
  • Salary Range in Newport, DE is $115k - $120k with an annual target bonus of 11% base of performance.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that Process Safety Management principles are allied to all aspects of production, modification & improvement in the area
  • Recommend and implement solutions to drive continuous improvement
  • Design and conduct process improvement tests in the plant
  • Monitor, analyze and report on process performance through trends of Key Process Input and Output Variables
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and quality system requirements
  • Own selected Technology packages and work instructions, ensuring clarity and effectiveness
  • Leads and participate in design, debug, and commissioning of capital projects
  • Lead and participate in troubleshooting, as needed
  • Lead and participates in Incident Investigations
  • Lead and Participates in Process Hazards Analyses
  • Lead problem solving for issues escalated from the operators. Analyze to determine possible causes, act to verify the cause, provide immediate solutions, and implement preventive actions to make the problem disappear forever.
  • Expose the organization to best-in-class manufacturing practices and principles, staying abreast of the latest applicable technologiesAssist in the training of operators, enabling them to generate improvement ideas and to sustain the improvements
  • In conjunction with the ATS (Advanced Technical Solutions) function, launch new products and commission new equipment.
  • Interface and maintain relationships with the Operations, Maintenance, Technology,, HSE, ATS, and R&D functions
  • Will work on US Government projects

Requirements
  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ years in a Chemical Manufacturing Process
  • Expert knowledge of Statistical Process Control (JMP, Minitab)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of typical equipment used in a Chemical Plant (i.e. pumps, compressors, piping, valves, reactors, dryers, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize and execute improvements that support the Business goals in Safety, Throughput & Cost
  • Superior Oral and Written skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of process safety as it applies to chemical manufacturing processes
  • Proven track record of delivering on commitments
  • Proven ability to lead change, personally adaptable, and able to perform well under pressure and constantly changing priorities
  • Development and use of metrics for performance management
  • US Citizenship required

Preferred
  • Significant experience working with highly hazardous chemicals at a manufacturing facility
  • Process hazard analysis leadership; LOPA and HAZOP
  • Cost/benefit analysis, including DCF analysis
  • Six-sigma Green belt or Black belt certification
