The Media Relations Coordinator works with the Media Relations Manager to support and implement a proactive storytelling and communications plan that promotes Boston Children's Hospital's extensive research, patient journey, and clinical care across the enterprise. In this role at one of the world's leading pediatric academic/research hospitals, the Media Relations Coordinator will support the department's media and communications efforts.

This Media Relations Coordinator will:

  • Assist with writing press releases, talking points, interview background materials, and award submissions.
  • Manage content for the digital newsroom, working with the Media Relations Manager to support and help execute proactive media relations efforts to respond to and track media inquiries for the team.
  • Support the team with social media projects.
  • Create a daily and weekly news e-mail for distribution to leadership and the entire hospital.
  • Track media clips and run monthly, quarterly and yearly reports.
  • Work with senior members of the team on crafting pitches for local stories.
  • Upload patient HIPAA consents in digital asset management system.
  • Help Identify media opportunities based on the current news cycle
  • Build relationships with marketing colleagues and departments across the enterprise.
  • Assist with the preparation of briefing materials.
  • Coordinate award submissions for priority publications.
  • Monitor media coverage and distribute daily reports and timely updates to media team
  • Prepare quarterly and yearly analytics reporting.
  • Maintain editorial calendars, press release pipelines, media lists, and coverage databases

To qualify, you must have:

  • BA degree Public Relations, Communications or related field
  • Internship experience with exposure to media relations, news judgment, writing for public audiences, project coordination and web content management.
  • Demonstrated writing skills and strong technical skills, with the ability to develop proficiency in specific software programs as required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
