Job Summary:

The AV Coordinator supports all faculty, staff and student needs regarding classrooms and classroom technologies at the law school, including daily classroom reviews. Monitor, troubleshoot, repair, or replace room technology as necessary to maintain optimal room function. Answer and respond to audio/visual hotline calls from classrooms. Assure consistency in classroom appearance and functionality, including coordination with Central Facilities Management and outside vendors to implement repairs. Oversee the class recording process including scheduling, testing, and auditing results. Conduct training on academic technologies for faculty, staff and students as needed. Propose classroom repair and renovation projects as needed. Work with the Events Coordinator to set up and run Law School events. Interact with University Facilities Management, Law School IT, University Police, in-house copy center, and external vendors and contractors.

Please note: The campus environment requires the ability to comfortably carry equipment up and down stairs.

Target hiring range for this position will be between $19.31 to $25.72 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Oversee classroom operations and daily functions, including regular review of law school classrooms. Ensure classrooms are presentable at all times and suitable for teaching. Work with the appropriate department/external vendors to ensure all classroom repairs are implemented, classroom supplies are in place, A/V equipment is fully functional, classroom computers are operational and loaded with appropriate software, and clocks are set to the correct time.
  • Provide assistance and recommend solutions to department staff and faculty regarding the use of classroom technology.
  • Provide training on use of smart classroom technology; develop, maintain and update training materials for smart classroom elements.
  • Answer and respond to support calls and requests regarding use of and technical problems with audio visual equipment in classrooms.
  • Answer and respond to web/electronic mail requests for the placement of technology in classrooms.
  • Manage class recording process and complete quality assurance checks.
  • Coordinate repair of audio visual technology in classrooms to include notifying IT and the law school community about temporary equipment outages, scheduling repair times/room reservations with law school registrar; responsible for decisions regarding interim solutions to accommodate/facilitate the teaching process.
  • Install software and basic hardware in classrooms, in coordination with Law IT.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • 1-3 years' experience in professional Audio Visual or academic support environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in operation of presentation/educational audio/visual technology.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Working knowledge of Mac, PC, MS Office Suite, Premier, Audition (or other DAW), and Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital signal processing.
  • Knowledge of basic video editing.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 40lbs.
  • Ability to calmly handle multiple simultaneous demands.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical field or the equivalent experience in appropriate information technology or audio/visual support environment.
  • CTS certification.
  • Dante level 1 or 2
  • Crestron certification
  • Biamp Tesiera certification
  • Live event audio or video production experience.

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Working knowledge of Creston control systems.
  • Working knowledge of Dante.
