Shift: 2nd Shift
Salary: $42.00 - $46.47/hr

The Operating Engineer is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment, machinery, and related controls and components at our client's facilities. The client sites are located in Northern Illinois. Operating Engineers are primarily responsible for their assigned locations; however, they may be required to support other sites in the event of an emergency or to provide backup coverage.

Responsibilities:
Control the daily operation of all mechanical equipment in the physical plant and buildings.
Perform maintenance and repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility to keep these systems up to applicable standards.
Responsible for tenant services, preventative maintenance, purchasing and inventory control, contracted maintenance, general maintenance, and technical proficiency.
Monitor the operation and maintain refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment, pumps, valves, piping and filters, and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
Perform and complete all tenant service requests accurately and expediently.
Formulate and implement the preventative maintenance program for the building in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
Monitor the quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors.
Evaluate building systems to monitor and improve performance and operating efficiencies.
Comply with all policies and procedures established for the building.
Ability to work long hours occasionally and some weekends.
Periodically act as the on-call engineer for the portfolio of buildings.
Actively participate in emergency response procedures, technical, and safety training programs.
Perform all work using the proper safety equipment and in a safe manner. Report safety issues to supervisor.
Complete all required training and safety programs.
Track and report time worked in accordance with account policies and procedures.
Comply with all purchasing and receiving policies and procedures.
Report property issues that are not within direct responsibility to supervisor or call center team.
Undertake special projects and other functions as required by the manager or client.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Relevant technical certifications or licenses.
Prior experience in operating and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
Strong understanding of building systems and equipment.
Knowledge of safety precautions and procedures.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexible and able to respond to emergencies or changing priorities.
Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
