Georgia-Pacific is an entrepreneurial company pursuing a self-motivated and driven candidate to join our team as a Shipping Supervisor in Wheatfield, IN where we manufacture gypsum wallboard. This role will provide daily technical direction of the warehouse through the application of the Principle-Based Management and will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of the warehouse. This position reports directly to the Shipping Manager. The ideal candidate possesses leadership skills and effective communication skills to interact with staff, employees, other departments, suppliers, and customers relative to solving labor, product integrity, and service issues. We are looking for a results-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced work environment.

What You Will Do

  • Promote workplace safety, housekeeping and maintain an organized warehouse.
  • Lead and motivate a team of hourly employees to improve the performance of individual employees and overall business.
  • Foster and develop a culture based on our Principle Based Management philosophy.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of our inventory control processes, shipping and receiving records.
  • Responsible for warehouse/shipping operations.
  • Establishing and maintaining work priorities within the department.
  • Post and process shipment invoices and records.
  • Work with employees to develop individual goals and responsibilities and review performance regularly.
  • Ensure all regulatory compliance is in place, including compliance with inventory control processes and procedures.
  • Daily monitoring of shipments and warehouse operations to ensure the safe loading of products that meet customer quality expectations with each shipment.
  • Involvement in the development and execution of implementing new process systems.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • A minimum of two (2) years leadership experience in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment, -- OR -- four (4) years of experience in the Gypsum industry - OR - an Associate's degree or higher with experience in manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Prior experience in shipping, managing supply chain or warehouse operations.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Must wear the necessary Personal Protection equipment (PPE) (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, face shield, chemical suit, respirator, ear plugs, hearing protection, steel-toe boots or safety shoes, and other PPE required by specific jobs) with or without reasonable accommodation.


    What Will Put You Ahead

    • Bachelor's Degree or higher.
    • Knowledge of mobile equipment and procurement processes and procedures.
    • Knowledge of plant maintenance & routines.
    • Experience managing in a union environment.
    • Experience creating reports and analyzing data.
