Summary of Job

The Shipping and Receiving Lead is responsible for the day-to-day inbound and outbound load received in time and ship in full, scrap and waste loads records. Through use of various SAP tools, the lead will ensure all material handlers use FG Inventory correctly, and tie to customer orders to build full truck loads and LTL daily and their paperwork is correct and the inspection on the material send is complete. Ideally, building a process to pre-build based on available inventory and completion of production orders. Creates, plans, and executes Stock Transfers between facilities. Ensures proactive communication to all internal and external Pregis customers (Customer Service). Tracks and traces of all exception, outbound and inbound shipments.

Ensures 5S standards are being met throughout the department; become the 5S champion for the group. Drives safety, quality, continuous improvement, associate development, team engagement, and operating results for their assigned area. Responsible for training team members, setting daily resource strategy, and monitoring progress towards team goals. This Lead will implement and enforce established Safety and Quality policy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The right candidate will lead their job with a strong safety mindset including but not limited to:

  • Coordinates all outbound /inbound activities with urgency and discipline to accomplish key organizational objectives.
  • Prepares daily shipping paperwork and scheduling of all outbound activities.
  • Coordinates internal STO's between main and off-site warehouse.
  • Schedules trucks to pick up all outgoing shipments.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications, adhering to customer specific requirements.
  • Traces lost/short shipments and/or customer claims of lost/short shipments.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Oversees the pick and pack product in an efficient manner for less than truckload shipments.
  • Communicates effectively with sales, customer service, scheduling, and production in order to plan shipping activities and to coordinate the pick-up and routing of freight with all applicable freight carriers.
  • Works with customer service to provide the best in-stock dates.
  • Tracks, traces and expedites pick labels and orders to ensure on-time arrival to include the overall support of the warehouse flow of inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Helps to improve and maintain an optimal Safety environment. Drive a "Safety First" mindset with the team.
  • Escalates critical issues and partner with Manufacturing, Customer Service, Procurement, and Planning to drive top level performance and to eliminate/reduce disruptions and negative customer impact.
  • Coordinates material transfers with supply chain team
  • Performs routine cycle counts to assure accurate inventory data.
  • Places inventories restock orders to ensure inventory levels are sufficient.
  • Maintains and plan inventory storage space in the warehouse.
  • Communicates any inventory issues that arise with the on-site leadership team.
  • Manages and maintains inventory levels in the inventory management system.
  • Uses the forklift to move large quantities of product throughout the warehouse and place product in the respective location.
  • Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Drives 5S principles and support all continuous improvement activities within area of responsibility.
  • Maintains process parameters and appropriate records.
  • Ensures an effective Shift Handoff that supports housekeeping, productivity, and critical information pass-down.
  • Within SAP, confirm production orders and resolve COGI (inventory) errors; escalate unresolved to supervisor and inventory manager.
  • Coordinates with Material Handlers and Clamp Drivers on raw material replenishment and finished goods staging and put-away.
  • Drives daily TPM efforts with operators and maintenance.

  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Inside work
  • Heat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Humidity may exceed 80%
  • Noise may exceed 85dB+

Physical Characteristics

  • Frequent standing, stooping, squatting, up to 90%.
  • (up to 60 pounds).

Position Type

  • Full time
  • Shift Work- 10:00AM-6:30PM

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience working with inventory management.
  • Forklift certification per OSHA standards.
