Summary of Job

As the Global Quality Director at Pregis, you will play a pivotal role in leading all aspects of Quality, directly and indirectly. You will be responsible for driving a culture of quality excellence, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing best practices to deliver superior products and services to our customers worldwide by setting objectives, improvement goals and strategy for each division. Through leadership, strategy, collaboration, and process continuous improvement, you will be responsible for ensuring all Pregis targets are achieved. Collaboration and internal partnership with various functions, specifically operations leadership and central business operations team, will be critical for the individual in this role. The ideal individual will be in the Chicagoland area, or close to a major airport given the travel requirements.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a common Quality Management System (QMS) across the network of plants and divisions to including governance over data collection, traceability, and analysis.
  • Has the ability to attract, train and develop key talent, particularly in the area of Quality, Continuous Improvement and Process Technical & Manufacturing roles
  • As the Pregis Production System (PPS) is rolled out across the Protective Products network of plants, this role will be principle owner for the PPS Quality standard requirements
  • Participate and/or lead problem resolutions that impact our customers and those situations that span across divisions.
  • Uphold safety, customer satisfaction, plant output and budget performance in order to meet/exceed expectations.
  • Drive the strategy, architecture, and development of the business solutions relating to a scalable Quality Managements System
  • Improve Quality performance by working with Plant leadership teams to reduce Quality complaints. Work with Quality Leadership to implement Pregis' Quality Management System, with clear Quality metrics and processes in alignment with corporate standards.
  • Develop and implement Quality focused Kaizen and continuous improvement events across the network of Plants & Divisions
  • Organize and manage projects, making detailed plans that work towards the fulfillment of a set objective.
  • Be the leader on the single solution of QMS Database solutions to not only create a Quality information repository, but also assure that we have product traceability and regulatory requirements to support our customers.
  • Direct the negotiation of quality related technical contracts and also prepare the company's budget, bids, and contracts as needed.
  • Act as 3 level auditors of the compliance to QMS procedures and quality assurance standard process documentation in focus plants and divisions
  • Collaborate with the senior engineering product development leadership in defining long-term organizational strategies and roadmaps.
  • Act in the capacity as voice of the customer in internal problem-solving situations to drive the best mutual outcome for all key stakeholders
  • Coordinates and communicate development activities and priorities to ensure the successful completion of process compliance objectives.
  • Collaborate with management, production, and product engineer staff on the possible requirements and procedures for process capability & optimization.
  • Work with Director of Facilities & Maintenance Engineering & Process Engineering to identify capital investment opportunities for quality and capability improvements across the production network.
  • Work with Director of Manufacturing Transformation to develop and implement formalized Pregis Production System (PPS) across all manufacturing operations with particular focus on improving productivity, increase reliability, reduce waste, and improve quality. System should be scalable to propagate to other Pregis operations and future acquisitions.
  • Support plant leadership teams on the development and execution of plans to minimize production costs through effective use of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital in order to exceed customer expectations and EBITDA targets.
  • Take initiative to explore and implement innovative technologies within the business in order to improve the business's internal platforms as well as customer experience.
  • Follow up on the business procedures, policies, and associated tools in order to develop processes that are more efficient and ensure conformity with the business's policies and overall objectives.
  • Manage multi-site operations, packaging, engineering, and project execution.
  • Uphold the company's values and ethical standards in all interactions, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence.

Physical Characteristics

  • Physical characteristics will vary frequently and will requirement:
  • Frequency standing, walking, sitting, stopping
  • May require bending, twisting, climbing, or lifting up to 50lbs
  • Frequent typing, keyboarding, and repetitive use of hands, wrists, and finders

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering(Chemical, Polymer, or Mechanical) or Quality Assurance Management, preferred
  • 10+ years' experience in process or quality engineering in a manufacturing environment required.
  • 5+ years' experience in packaging industry preferred.
  • Experience supporting multiple sites preferred
  • Must be advanced in various computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Leads and facilitates continuous improvement events
