Job Description

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital is seeking an Acute Care Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to join their Critical Care team in Park Ridge Illinois. The Critical Care team will be staffed with intensivists and APRNs to provide 24/7 coverage to critically ill patients in the hospital and will work collaboratively with consultants, internal medicine, and emergency department.

  • APC will work autonomously and in collaboration with the ICU intensivist and will be required to perform several technical skills including central and arterial line placements. Experience with these skills is highly desirable, but training will be provided.

  • Full time position, which include three 12-hour shifts per week, rotation of days, nights, weekends and holidays

  • Will demonstrate competency in all areas of APC practice including medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice-based learning, and improvement

  • Will develop a knowledge of emerging trends in technologies, techniques, and approaches in area of expertise. Strong work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills. Will work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.

Position Requirements:

  • Masters of Nursing Degree as APRN~CNP/2 years RN experience preferred. 1 year APR/CNP experience in the relevant setting preferred.
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record.
  • National certification as a CNP from an accredited body.
  • Current Illinois APRN License. Current Illinois Registered Nurse license. Current Illinois Controlled Substance License and DEA. Current BLS Certification. Current PALS/ACLS certification.
  • Ability to work varying hours and shifts to meet the needs of Advocate Health Care.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations. Able to respond quickly to patient needs and work at a fast pace
  • Routinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patients. Work environment includes probability of exposure.
