Position Summary:
The Senior Vice President of Operations (Central Region) will play a pivotal role in the leadership and management of Related Affordable's growing affordable apartment portfolio. Responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, and organizational effectiveness, this role will lead a team dedicated to delivering exceptional service and value to our residents and investors. Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Operations, the Senior Vice President will collaborate closely with key stakeholders and executive leadership to achieve our strategic objectives and uphold our commitment to excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Central Region portfolio, overseeing the successful management of over 70 properties and 12,000 apartment homes across 7 states.
* Foster professional relationships with owners, investors, internal partners, state agencies, and local officials, ensuring alignment with priorities and objectives.
* Assess staffing performance and needs, collaborating with Human Resources to recruit, develop, and retain top talent within the region.
* Assume direct responsibility for the operating P&L of the assigned portfolio, partnering with ownership to develop and manage budgets effectively.
* Drive operational excellence by implementing industry best practices and company standards, optimizing performance across various metrics.
* Improve performance across various operating metrics including; occupancy, affordable compliance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital work, unit renovations, resident and employee experience, Fair Housing, emergency response, risk/loss, special claims collection, etc.
* Hold teams accountable for regularly conducting site visits and ensuring company standards are met including curb appeal, physical needs, and site control.
* Identify and address underperforming assets with urgency and sound solutions, ensuring the highest standards of resident satisfaction and property maintenance.
* Champion a culture of community, belonging, and integrity, fostering a positive work environment where employees thrive.

* Minimum of 7 years strategic leadership experience in multifamily property management, with specific expertise in affordable housing required.
* Demonstrated success in managing portfolios of at least 5,000 units, including lease-ups and stabilized communities.
* Strong financial acumen, with experience managing operating budgets and driving financial performance.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
* Proven track record of process improvement and operational results in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
* Bachelor's degree preferred; graduate degree a plus.
* Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
* Regionally located within Chicago with flexibility to travel and work outside standard business hours as needed.
