Join our team of talented healthcare professionals! CompleteRx is looking for a Director of Pharmacy to help extend exceptional patient care at South Shore Hospital; a 170-bed acute care hospital located in South Chicago, IL.

The Director of Pharmacy provides leadership and strategic direction at our partnered hospital while having the support and expertise of CompleteRx's operations team as a resource. Your positive leadership and innovation will enable the hospital to provide the best services to the local communities.

Since its founding in 1912, South Shore Hospital has been committed to serving the community while providing high-quality medical care for the whole family. The facility is a non-profit organization.

Pharmacy Operating Hours:

  • Monday - Friday, 7am - 10pm
  • Sat/Sun, 7am - 8pm

What You Will Do

Evaluate operations on an ongoing basis to ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective care delivery.

  • Develops, enforces, and maintains policies and procedures that promote cost-effective, appropriate, and safe drug use.
  • Evaluates operations on an ongoing basis using principles of continuous process improvement.
  • Develops, implements, checks, and retools action plans to address variances and improve efficiency.
  • Supervises drug storage and preparation areas throughout the hospital.
  • Ensures maintenance of an adequate drug supply. Ensures the integrity of the drug supply. Establishes specifications for the procurement of drugs, chemicals, and biologicals.
  • Assures adequate control and documentation of controlled substances.

Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff.

  • Supervise pharmacy personnel.
  • Develops job descriptions, performance standards, and performance goals.
  • Prepares work schedules and monitors workload statistics.
  • Provides for the educational needs of the pharmacy staff.
  • Acts as a positive role model, mentor, and preceptor.

Prepares annual budget, controls and reduces costs, forecasts operational needs, and reviews expenditures to ensure budget limits are not exceeded.

  • Manages and oversees pharmacy purchasing.
  • Prepares a pharmacy budget annually with the support of the CompleteRx operations team.
  • Reviews monthly financial statistics and plans expenditures within budget guidelines.
  • Monitors and justifies all expenses exceeding budgeted targets.
  • Administers reports, documents, payroll records, employee surveys, and other required data.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures that apply to pharmacy services.

Establishes the scope of services and develops annual implementation plans which contribute to the organizational strategic objectives.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a program that improves the quality of pharmacy services and supports the quality improvement plan of the organization.
  • Establish productive collaborative relationships with physicians, nursing, administration, and other hospital staff.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree required.
  • Current license, in good standing, to practice pharmacy in the State of Illinois.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience required.
