This is a hybrid position, and it will require three days in the office each week.

This person will be responsible for ensuring that the correct supply base is selected for the Transportation & Logistics category and other categories while ensuring that cost reduction targets and supplier performance goals are met. The person will be tasked with ensuring that the longer-term relationships are solidified through long-term agreements or contracts as well as inventory agreements. The candidate will undertake commodity and industry benchmarking projects to ensure that S&C remains at a competitive advantage in the marketplace and will ensure that the global Sourcing team is made aware of potential "best in class"

S&C Electric Company, an employee-owned global provider of equipment and services for the electric power industry, seeks an experienced sourcing and supply chain professional to fill a key role in the Sourcing Department at its Chicago Headquarters. This experienced and professional individual will manage several key commodity portfolios and suppliers that will serve the needs of the S&C Chicago manufacturing location. The individual will also have the indirect responsibility to find, qualify and develop suppliers with a long- term view to the being used in all of S&C's global locations.

The accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Actively manage the performance of the assigned portfolio of indirect material and/or service suppliers to ensure that KPIs' and internal customer requirements are met.
  • Manage the overall facets of supplier management activities for assigned categories, improve overall performance (quality, delivery, service, cost) and complete regular supplier performance assessments.
  • Develop medium to long-term category management strategies by developing comprehensive category profiles, market analysis, benchmarking, and total cost of ownership.
  • Plan and conduct strategic and tactical negotiations related to supply and purchase agreements with a view to mutual benefits and success.
  • Assess new suppliers for business fit, financial stability and ensure that they will provide best overall value to S&C.
  • Negotiate prices and make contract commitments with established and new suppliers.

To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following:

  • BS in business or technical discipline. MBA or current certification by ISM (CSM/CPSM) or APICS CSCP would be beneficial.
  • Work record showing ability to conceive and implement strategic sourcing initiatives and assure their long-term success.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and participating on cross-functional global teams.
  • Experience with and understanding of manufacturing processes for industrial products and components.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including personal and group presentations.
  • Highly skilled in use of business technology and communication tools
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
