Job Description

Position Purpose: Responsible for helping coordinate safety of personnel, materials, equipment, and environments for heavy electrical construction industrial projects. Assist management and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practices and conditions.

Essential Responsibilities

* Coordinate, conduct, and document safety meetings and on-site safety assessments. Identify deficiencies and take appropriate actions.

* Integrate safety into project plans by establishing safety goals, reinforcing safety policies and procedures with continuous safety improvement

* Ensure federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are followed

* Work closely with corporate safety staff to share incident reports, safety alerts, safety information, and track safety training

* Provide and coordinate on-site case management

* Conduct New Hire Safety Orientation, and additional employee training

* Monitor activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment

* Provide safety technical support and education for supervisors and employees. Provide feedback to encourage learning

Knowledge | Skills | Abilities

* Must be proficient in OSHA 1926 and 1910 safety regulations

* Working knowledge of NFPA 70E

* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

* Ability to use Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel

* Proven communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills

* Demonstrate ability to work with management, customer, and crew

* Strong knowledge of case management

Qualifications

* Degree in Environmental, Safety, & Health, or nationally recognized certification in Environmental, Safety, & Health.

* 5 years' experience preferred

* Experience working in the industrial industries and refineries highly recommended. Related field equivalent work or experience will be considered.

Work Environment

* Must be able to remain standing approximately 75% of the time.

* Routine walking, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, climbing involved.

* The person in this position frequently communicates with employees andcustomer safety rep; and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

* Work in outdoor weather conditions.

* It will be expected that the applicant work outages with extended hours working 6 to 7 days a week at these times.

* Regional Travel throughout the Northwest Indiana area, as well occasionally to the Chicago Area, Applicant will be assigned to the NWI office and reporting to various locations in NWI.
