Job Description

ONSITE Not Remote

Job Summary:

To assist in analyzing imaging data including performance of three-dimensional image reconstruction data, complex anatomical and functional analyses, archiving of image and functional numerical data for physician review.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform anatomic and functional analysis and routine image reconstructions, review product with physician and provide data archiving to a specific database according to department procedure.

  • Produce high quality, clinically appropriate reconstructive images.

  • Immediately verify completed studies for appropriate view as indicated by physician order and diagnosis.

  • Assure quality and clarity of reconstructions so that they may be interpreted by radiologist or physician.

  • Use problem solving skills and appropriate resources to deal with non-routine requests and problems.

  • Develop manuals on how to perform post processing and provide education and training for a diverse division of medical staff and technologists on various workstations.

  • Be a support contact/liaison with other Lurie Children's departments and outside referrers.

  • Keep up-to-date in current reconstruction techniques through education, software upgrades, and training.

  • Be a resource for information and a subject matter expert to Lurie Children's staff. Anticipate physician needs and utilize communication skills to facilitate efficient workflow.

  • Standardize how post processing is performed and plan most effective strategies for building imaging reconstructions.

  • Provide services in a manner to be regularly and conveniently available to meet the needs of other Lurie Children's professionals. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information.

  • Assists with various research projects.

  • Report any equipment malfunctions, necessary adjustments, or repairs.

  • Maintain annual hospital and department competencies as required.

  • Respect patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by HIPAA, Lurie Children's mission, and applicable laws and regulations. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability, and security of information.

  • Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective environment for employees, patients, and families.

  • Attend required training sessions, comply with Lurie Children's policy and procedure.

  • Understand, adhere to and model service principles as defined organizationally and specifically within the department.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Associate's degree or graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Previous experience in pediatric sectional imaging preferred.

  • Working knowledge of complete human anatomy and physiology. Knowledge and visual ability to understand 3-Dimensional imagery and apply it to cross-sectional anatomy.

  • Background in computer science and/or competency in computer science/technical applications preferred.

  • Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification required.

  • Demonstrate high attention to accuracy and detail, possess strong organizational skills and an independent work ethic. Must maintain a level of computer literacy to be able to adapt to various medical software applications. Analytical ability sufficient to compare data; mathematical ability sufficient to perform algebraic calculations and simple statistical correlations.

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to relate to diverse age and demographic backgrounds. Clearly speaks person-to-person and on telephone and records accurate messages. Ability to move up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis. Ability to move patients, and equipment, on a regular basis.

  • Ability to make quick, accurate decisions on a daily basis. Ability to handle stressful situations.

  • Operates a personal computer, which includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other department specific software as required.

  • Meet all department required competencies on an annual basis.

Education

Associate's Degree: Radiologic Technology (Required)

(BLS) - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
