Job Description

K.S.A.'s:

  • Doctorate in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Valid licenses for State of Illinois.
  • Board certification or board eligibility required.
  • Completion of a residency in radiology at an ACGME accredited medical facility.
  • Completion of an ACGME accredited fellowship in Pediatric Radiology, Neuroradiology, or Interventional Radiology.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skill.
  • Passion for pediatric care.

Job Duties:

  • Obtains patients' histories from electronic records, patient interviews, dictated reports, and by communicating with referring clinicians. Prepares comprehensive interpretive reports of findings.
  • Evaluates medical information to determine patients' risk factors (such as allergies to contrast agents) and to make decisions regarding the appropriateness of procedures.
  • Provides counseling to patients and referring providers to explain the processes, risks, benefits, and alternative treatments to imaging procedures.
  • Performs and interprets diagnostic imaging procedures including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET), nuclear medicine examinations, and/or ultrasound studies. Communicates imaging results to referring physicians, patients, and families.
  • Performs minimally invasive procedures using imaging guidance.
  • Confers with medical professionals regarding image-based diagnoses.
  • Coordinates radiological services with other medical activities. Documents performance, interpretation, and outcomes of procedures performed. Establishes and enforces standards for protection of patients and staff.
  • Develops and monitors procedures to ensure adequate quality control of images.
  • Monitors radiation dose for procedures involving radiation.
  • Ensures safety for patients and staff in Medical Imaging.
  • Participates in continuing education activities to maintain and develop expertise.
  • Participates in Medical Imaging quality improvement activities.
  • Serves as a teleradiologist for facilities that do not have on-site radiologists.
  • Oversees diagnostic quality of all Medical Imaging procedures.
  • Supervises and educates trainees.
